Citizens of the GBR:
Great Reef Census 2021

The Great Reef Census’ is an annual initiative from Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef. Over 12 weeks, a makeshift research flotilla made up of tourism and dive boats, superyachts, fishing vessels and even tug boats mobile as part of the Great Reef Census, which aims to capture imagery rom across the Great Barrier Reef.

We worked with Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef to develop the concept for the 2021 launch video, working in an incredibly tight timeframe to write the script and storyboard. We travelled to Cairns and over two days shot each segment in a different location, using different talent to represent the diverse array of Reef users.

We worked with the team from Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef to edit together a short, uplifting launch video to empower reef enthusiasts to take part in the Census.

The work:

  • Storyboard development

  • Field production

  • Cinematography

  • Video editing
